A Bad Case of the Doldrums

I haven't dropped off the face of the Earth.

I'm just taking an extended breather from the blog. I see I missed the entire month of July without posting anything. Whoa! And was about to miss out on August as well. My how time flies! I knew I was going take a few weeks off, but somehow life got in the way and a few weeks ended up being nearly two months!

Well, the bad news is: I'm not ready to return today.

The good news? I will be returning. Fairly soon.

I can feel the energy to write slowly coming back, and hope to have some content coming up in the next few days (or week). I'm also aware that I haven't been keeping up on reading your blogs as well. Actually, that's not true. I do read all my favorite blogs early in the morning right before I start out for work. I just never have the time to leave a comment. I will remedy that shortly as well. Or try to.

In the meantime ... Yes, I'm doing fine. It hasn't been an easy summer for me, but I'm still alive and surviving. Maybe I'll delve more into that in a later post.

Hope you all are doing just as well, if not better. How have your summers been? No, really, tell me in the comments section. I want to know, dammit!

  1. Yay! I miss you, friend -and your posts, too. It happens, taking extended breaks. Sometimes they are necessary, to clear our minds and to make us take a step back and assess what's going on. Then, when it feels right, we're back better than ever.

So, my summer started off great, then got even more great and now it's kind of being not so great. :( Lots to deal with personally, blossoming relationship, my grandmother's hospitalization, financial burdens that were unexpected, and the latest? Scary health issues of my own. Not been the best July/August, that's for sure. But like the saying goes, "Take it one day at at time" -and that's what I'm doing.

    Hugs to you, David! :)

  2. I look forward to your eventual return. Make no apology for taking time for yourself. If you don't take the time, who will? I also took an extended break from blogging, with just a dipping of the proverbial toe here and there. It wasn't until this month that I started really posting again.

As for my summer, it started badly but is coming around now. You know about the medical issues I had in June. The month of July was about recovering and at the end of July moving back to MA. I'm now living in MA with a much shorter commute to/from work and looking to get my own place soon.

I leave you with the parting words of the great philosopher, Ferris Bueller:

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

  3. Yvonne -- Thanks, my friend. I love reading your blog, btw! :) You and I seem to be having a lot of parallels this summer. Why do bad things happen to good people, huh? Hang in there. I hope your abuela has a healthy recovery.

Rodney -- Yes, you've had quite the adventure over the past several months. But not in the good way. Still, when is that news in your life, right? But, I have to say it does seem like you're doing a lot better for yourself these days. Slowly getting your life back in order and actually sounding upbeat. Wow! I have to double check to make sure I didn't wake up in Bizarro world. :)

Panama Trip - Day 1: Here There Be Balboas!

In late May, 2017 I embarked on a trip of a lifetime. A trip to Panama's steamy tropical province, Bocas del Toro. Now, before 2017 ...
